What to do on a Rainy Day?

We started out wandering from our hotel into the Sunshine City complex, situated on the site of a prison from the 1890's-1960's. It's 4 big buildings and 3 levels of malls.

After an hour or two of gawking and enjoying ourselves, we saw a sign promoting Sunshine City Aquarium, 10 floors above us.

Why not? We weren't going to go for a walk in town. We expected tanks full of fish, and we got them:

We didn't expect to walk THROUGH the tanks though, as we did with these jellyfish

And we hadn't anticipated that there would be amphibious critters and open enclosures.

Or this trio of amusing lizards who just got their food!

Or penguins who were loving the rain

These sea lions drew a crowd:

This sea lion was a bit disappointed very few people were coming to say hello to him.

Finally - customers!

We were captivated by the sea otters. They were larger and more animated than I expected.

The Mola Mola was interesting too - we'd never seen one so close-up and personal.

And that's what you do on a rainy day in Tokyo.

See you later.
